Statement of mission, means and ethics
Core mission
- To secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of the landscape and features of archaeological, historical, ecological, geological, geographical and architectural interest in the Yorkshire Wolds (the area of benefit).
- To educate the public in the archaeological, historical, ecological, geological, geographical and architectural landscape and features of the Yorkshire Wolds.
Means
- Act as a coordinating body and to cooperate with the local authorities, planning committees, all other statutory authorities and voluntary organisations, charities and persons having aims compatible with the CIO.
- Promote research and publish the results into subjects directly connected with the objects of the CIO.
- Publish papers, reports and other literature.
- Make surveys and prepare maps and plans and collect information in relation to any place or building of relevant interest in the area of benefit.
- Hold meetings, lectures and exhibitions and to give advice and information.
- Promote or assist in promoting activities of a charitable nature throughout the area of benefit.
Ethics
- Respect and act inclusively for alternative opinions and perspectives,
- Act professionally by maintaining transparent governance, reporting practices, and interactions, through thorough research, avoidance of bias and good communication.
- Follow the strict rules of the Data Protection Act 2018 called ‘data protection principles’ to ensure all necessary members’ data is protected against unlawful or unauthorised processing, access, loss, destruction or damage.
